The Troiano Transfer Station was opened in early 2000. At the transfer station, located in South Portland, demolition debris is sorted and processed to remove recyclable materials before the remaining non-recyclable material is hauled away. The recyclable materials such as metal, wood, concrete, gravel and others are hauled to various recycling facilities.
